Doing Research from a Distance: Part 1 - Charlotte Milbank
In light of the travel restrictions under the COVID-19 pandemic many research fieldwork plans have been disrupted. The uncertainty of future travel means that researchers are having to re-think their fieldwork plans and adjust their research accordingly. This session will hear from a variety of panellists covering how to conduct remote research, build off adversity and seize opportunities to explore novel insights and methodologies.

Conservation and Human Behaviour - Dr Claudia Schneider

This session will explore the psychology underlying human behaviour generally as well as applied to the context of conservation, such as barriers that prevent and levers that can motivate pro-environmental action.

Systematic Review and Evidence Synthesis - Dr Phil Martin
Evidence synthesis is vital for informing decisions on the environm. This interactive workshop will show you how to conduct a robust systematic review, synthesise evidence, and assess different types of biases. We will use case-studies to show how synthesis can address major global questions and explore cutting-edge tools to improve and speed up systematic review

A more in depth discussion on one of the ways of doing research at a distance discussed in the first session on 13 November. You will have the opportunity to vote for which one will be discussed.

User-Centred Design - Alice Lawrence

This session will give an overview of user-centred design (UCD): a process whereby the enduser is involved in the design of an interface or document. We will use a case study from the field of medical communications to explore the different steps of UCD, and how it has been applied within conservation.

Media Workshop

This is a two half-day online Media Workshop designed specifically for ECR's to build their research profile in the non-specialised media. The training will be given by ex-BBC journalists with decades of experience. In this hands-on-course you will prepare exercises and interviews tailored for your research. There is a maximum of 15 attendees for this workshop. Please register through Eventbrite.

Moving Methods Online - Lucy Goodman
Learn more about how to do social science research when travel and face-to-face are limited during the pandemic. From ethical to logistics issues, this session will facilitate peer-to-peer learning and take a deep dive into one case study that uses zoom to facilitate a Q methodology study done entirely online.
