Turning Research into Real-World Change
The Conservation Research Institute conducts research with impact at its core. We work closely with partners across the Cambridge Conservation Initiative and beyond to ensure our research addresses real-world challenges and informs policy, practice and decision-making.
Our work supports organisations across the public, private and third sectors, helping to shape conservation practice from local landscapes to international policy.
CRI is also a major pathway to impact, contributing seven University of Cambridge Research Excellence Framework (REF) Impact Case Studies across the 2014 and 2021 assessment cycles.
Working with partners at every scale—from local implementing agencies to national organisations and international processes including IPBES, the IPCC and the UN Conventions on Biological Diversity and Climate Change—we help translate research into practical action for people and nature.
Building on this momentum, a newly established annual programme will welcome a distinguished global leader to Cambridge for a week of dialogue, culminating in a landmark public lecture designed to inspire fresh thinking and collaboration.
