CRI/GFS Early Career Researcher Event

From theory to practice: Can the private sector help materialise research? 

An ECR event jointly run by the Conservation Research Institute and the Global Food Security IRC

A panel will deliver short talks, and then there will be a panel discussion.

Panelists include:

Prof. David Aldridge, Department of Zoology

David's work focuses on applied freshwater ecology, with a particular emphasis on bivalve molluscs. His work involves collaboration with the water industry, government agencies and NGOs, and these collaborations provide a significant part of his research funding. He is also director and co-founder of BioBullets Ltd., a company that has developed a novel and environmentally-friendly way of controlling some of the world’s biggest aquatic pests.

Dr Katja Kostelnik, Cambridge Enterprise

Katja assists academics at the University of Cambridge to turn ideas and inventions emerging from the life sciences into commercial opportunities. Together with her colleagues in the Life Sciences team, Katja provides support for the evaluation, protection and licensing of technologies to achieve global impact.

Yash Misra,  PhD candidate

Yash is Co-Founder of Animal Alternative Technologies, which creates cultured meat manufacturing systems for global food security and sustainability. He is also a bioengineering PhD candidate at the University of Cambridge.

Morning tea/coffee and cake will be included during the event.
