ECR Programme: Skills Workshop
Using bibliometric databases for literature search and analysis
Dr Sergey Kolesnikov, CEENRG, University of Cambridge
This session will focus on how literature search - for example, when writing the literature review section in your next paper - can be improved and facilitated by the use of bibliometric databases. We will briefly cover key bibliometric databases available in Cambridge: Scopus, Web of Science, and Dimensions, as well as an open-access database OpenAlex. We will learn how to construct efficient search queries for these databases, quickly sort through the results to find those publications that are of interest to you, and use the search outcomes to identify key experts, institutions, journals and funders working on the topic of your interest. Please bring your laptops, as we will be doing search exercises as we go.
If you have a specific literature search question or problem that you would like to explore in this session, please let Sergey know in advance by email: sk2063@cam.ac.uk.
