Understanding Land Management in the Cairngorms National Park
To better understand how land is managed across the Cairngorms National Park, in 2024 we conducted a survey of 18 landholdings, covering nearly 40% of the park area. Our survey gathered insights into land management practices, enterprise types, financial sustainability, and employment.

Understanding Land Management in the East Anglian Fens
This report details some of the data from a recent survey across the Fens region, where our team spoke to 64 farms and 8 nature reserves to gather detailed data on current land management practices, costs, revenues, and employment, and to better understand how farmers interact with the landscape — to inform wider discussions around farming systems, food security, and the transition to a more sustainable and resilient future.

The data from both of the above surveys are directly enabling other research across the CLR, including the development of land-use scenario models. These models explore how different future landscapes might influence biodiversity, greenhouse gas emissions, economic outcomes, and other key indicators. The research also considers the cultural, ecological and social importance of each region, as well as its role within the economy.
