We have had many people engage in the CCI Strategy Beyond 2020 Listening Phase over the past 12 months. One question that came up a lot from the CCI community was "how will CCI engage with the advocacy agenda?" In a time of climate strikes, activism and calls for better inclusivity (in conservation and beyond), there is a question of what role CCI might play.

The team who are working on the Strategy within the Executive Director’s Office have some ideas, which we have been exploring with the CCI Council and Advisory Board. We are really passionate about CCI playing an effective role in advocacy and progressing the environmental and justice agendas, and are open to ideas of how we as the CCI partnership can best do this.

To this end, we are hosting a virtual 'CCI Advocacy Cafe' on Tuesday 28th July from 9.30 - 10.15am to continue the conversation with the CCI community, in order to explore and unpack further how CCI best engages with the advocacy agenda.

We are hoping to have a really open discussion around the opportunities for CCI to have impact, as well as where CCI is currently falling short in its potential to engage -  especially on issues around inclusion and diversity.

So please grab a cup of coffee and come along to discuss this vital issue, and help shape CCI’s work over the next 10 years. All are welcome to attend, and we’re particularly keen to hear from early career conservationists within CCI.

Any questions, please contact Gen (cciea@jbs.cam.ac.uk). We look forward to seeing you on the 28th of July.
