Using citizen science data to help target conservation actions
Conservation resources are always limited and, as the number of species in need of conservation action grows, the need for effective deployment of these limited resources becomes even more urgent. Citizen science data, particularly large-scale, long-term data on abundance, demography and individual movements, provide opportunities to inform targeting of conservation actions. In this talk, I will explore how these data can inform where conservation actions are likely to be more or less effective, and can reveal the processes driving changes in species’ distributions.
