CCI Conservation Seminar - Dr Dan Ingram, Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology, University of Kent

The hunting, consumption, and trade of wildlife in changing times: from rural hunters to urban consumers

Wildlife contributes to the diets, livelihoods and socio-cultural activities of people worldwide; however, unsustainable hunting is a major pressure on wildlife. Dr Dan Ingram will present progress in research, policy and practice on the hunting, consumption, and trade of wildlife over the past 20 years. He will also present on a new interdisciplinary research programme investigating the consumption of wildlife in African towns and cities.

Dr Dan Ingram is a Research Fellow and member of the Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology (DICE) at the University of Kent. At DICE, and as part of his UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship, he runs a research group interested in natural resource use and sustainability, wild food systems, wilding, and nature connection and human wellbeing. He established the Food and Nature Programme at the university, which focusses on the interlinkages between food systems and nature.
