Career Pathways

Discuss how skills learned during your PhD can help plan your next career step. Explore various aspects of career development within and outside academia. Get advice on seeking funding & applying for jobs. Discuss if you unsure whether to pursue an academic career or enter a different sector? Speakers from different sectors will share their journey taken after their PhD’s.

We look forward to seeing you on Friday 21 May at the Career Pathways Workshop ( 3rd & 4th year PhD students) from 10am-12.30pm.

As the end of your PhD approaches you are likely to start thinking and taking actions about your next career move. This workshop, led by freelance trainer Emma Williams, is aimed at helping you reflect on how the skills that you have learned during your PhD could be used to this end, whether you are thinking of pursuing an academic career or whether you would like to enter a different sector. The workshop will concentrate on different aspects of career development both within and outside academia, including seeking funding and applying for jobs. We will also be joined by Sonali Shukla, who will highlight support and resources available through the Cambridge Careers Service.

Speakers from different sectors will give their perspectives, together with the opportunity to ask questions.
