The TAA 8th Annual East Anglia Seminar was held on 30th June, 2 - 4 pm as a webinar. The webinar focused on the alignment between sustainable agriculture and rural development with an emphasis on the conservation and harnessing of natural processes involved in food supply chains. Prof. Giles Oldroyd of the University of Cambridge’s Sainsbury Laboratory talked about nitrogen fixation within the context of natural land management techniques, Dr Shailaja Fennell from the Department of Land Economy focused on how local knowledge of agricultural production and processing practices impacted on creating sustainable food value chains, and Harriet Bartlett of the Departments of Zoology and Veterinary Medicine discussed her research on tradeoffs and synergies in the biodiversity impacts, carbon footprints, animal welfare, and antibiotic use of Brazilian and UK pig systems.
