Conservation Research Institute

International development work at University of Cambridge – research facilitation by Cambridge Global Challenges and work led by the GCRF TRADEHub

Professor Alan Blackwell (Co-Director, Cambridge Global Challenges Strategic Research Initiative) and Professor Neil Burgess (Chief Scientist, UN Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre, UNEP-WCMC)

Professor Alan Blackwell will present the work led by Cambridge Global Challenges – the Strategic Research Initiative of the University of Cambridge that advances the contribution of its research towards addressing the SDGs by 2030, with a particular focus on the poorest half of the world’s population – and suggest opportunities for collaboration around Zero-Carbon SDGs.

CGC supports the partnerships and the work of academic researchers (STEM and AHSS) and implementers (eg: civil society, NGOs, policy-makers, industry) who, together, can successfully deliver research-for-development projects (overview here). This work will be further characterized by Professor Neil Burgess, who leads the GCRF Trade, Development and the Environment Hub – a programme bringing together over 50 organisations from 15 different countries to help make trade sustainable for people and the planet.
