Conservation Research Institute

I am writing to inform you that new operating measures will take effect in the CCI Campus from Monday 19th July 2021. These recognise the need to relax some of the more stringent measures that were previously in place, but also the need to continue to mitigate the risks associated with COVID-19 by ensuring a safe and healthy workspace.

The main changes will include:

Occupancy restrictions

  • There will no longer be occupancy limits imposed and partner organisations should decide how office spaces are used and who visits the building. Please check with your organisation or work area about any internal procedures regarding the use of your office space.
  • For most organisations, this will result in only a gradual rise in visits during the summer and autumn months.
  • CCI Services reception should continue to be informed about who will be in the building.

Social distancing

  • 1 m rule maintained in shared spaces – reception, circulation areas, meeting rooms, breakout areas, toilets, common room. Please check with your organisation or work area about any internal procedures regarding the use of your office space.
  • The 1m rule will not apply to teaching areas from September/October, in line with University guidelines.

Use of face coverings

The use of face-coverings is strongly encouraged in shared spaces (particularly where 1m social distancing might be compromised), except where appropriate mitigating factors have been identified and agreed. Please refer to any guidelines that your own organisation has inside office spaces.

Visitors

Visitors will be welcome but reception must be informed in advance or they will not be able to grant access. Visitors should be “managed” by the host and seen out afterwards.

Use of meeting rooms

Use of every meeting room has been tested for operation within the constraints of a 1m distancing rule. Until further notice, the maximum permissible numbers that can use meeting rooms, including the Common Room, has been revised as follows:

Use of toilets

The one-in-one-out system will be stopped. However, we strongly recommend using a face covering where 1m social distancing is compromised.

Use of lifts

These should continue to only be used by one person at a time.

Use of showers

These will continue to be closed for the time being. We will consider opening them in the autumn and/or when demand increases significantly.

Hotdesking in shared areas e.g. Common Room, library, or breakout spaces

We regret that this will not be possible until further notice

Continuation of measures to ensure a safe and hygienic workspace

CCI Services will continue to implement measures to ensure a safe Campus. This will include:

  • Ensuring adequate ventilation by keeping windows open / regular tests of ventilation system.
  • Provision of hand sanitisers throughout the building,
  • Continued enhanced cleaning and the employment of a full-time day cleaner,
  • Screen retained on reception,
  • Continued offering of lateral flow tests – collect from reception if staff or visitors wish to test themselves,
  • Continued use of temperate sensor on reception,

Review of measures

These measures will be reviewed at regular intervals, expected to be at least monthly. The review will be accompanied by the re-application of a risk assessment for the building.
