Abstract:

Target 15 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) encourages companies to monitor, assess, and transparently disclose their risks, dependencies, and impacts on biodiversity. The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) Recommendations and the Science–based Targets Network (SbTN) are frameworks developed to help companies achieve this target. The TNFD’s Online Tools Catalogue and the SbTN’s Referral List provide up to 132 tools to support companies assess their nature-related issues in alignment with their L.E.A.P. and 5 Step approaches respectively.

Panel members:

Caesar Rahman (Online)
Czarina Panopio
Nobert Nyandire
Harshini de Silva Pandithasekera

The presenters, MPhil students in the Conservation Leadership Programme,  made an assessment of each of these tools with the aim of classifying them and evaluating their ability to measure real impacts on biodiversity. They will present their findings in this seminar and identify those tools that are likely most useful for measuring impacts on biodiversity. The results hold the potential to empower private sector companies in achieving GBF target 15 more efficiently and effectively.
