In addition to the standard University of Cambridge cookie policy, this site collects and uses some information specific to our activities and may include third-party services.
Personal Information Collected via This Site
We collect personal data through the following forms and processes:
- Mailing List – We use your details to send conservation-related news, event invitations, and updates on our activities. You can unsubscribe at any time. Data is kept until your email bounces or you request removal.
- Research Directory – Details you provide will be published on our public research directory until you ask to be removed or leave the University.
- Event Sign-ups – Attendee details are collected for catering, security, and room capacity planning. Data is shared with CCI Services (and, for some events, volunteers from CRI) for logistics and safety, then deleted after the event.
- Internship Applications – Application data is processed for recruitment, legal compliance, and reporting. Unsuccessful applicant data is kept for 1 year; successful applicant data for 6 years after completion. Data is shared with relevant University departments, referees, and project supervisors.
Embedded & Third-Party Content
Some pages may include embedded content such as Google Maps, YouTube videos, or third-party forms (e.g., contact or booking forms). These services may set cookies and collect usage data when you view or interact with them.
By accepting cookies, you acknowledge that cookies from these third-party providers may be set and data collected in accordance with their own privacy and cookie policies. Disabling cookies may limit functionality—for example, videos may not play, interactive maps may not load, or forms may not display.
Where possible, we have removed unnecessary third-party embeds, but certain content—such as YouTube videos—plays a valuable role in demonstrating our work.
Staff Profile Pages
Individual staff profile pages are maintained by staff members themselves. While all staff have been informed of the University's cookie policy, we cannot guarantee that their pages do not include third-party content that may set cookies outside of the University's direct control.
