Biography
I am a plant scientist with over 35 years of research experience. I studied my undergraduate degree in botany and zoology at the Australian National University, Canberra, and my MPhil and PhD at the Institute of Biotechnology, University of Cambridge and Jesus College. Following my studies, I had postdoctoral research positions in various biological science departments. My most recent post-doctoral position was in the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, University of Cambridge, where over a period of 17 years I used crop population genetics and archaeobotany to study the prehistoric spread of agriculture in various regions of Eurasia.
In 2019, I took a secondment position in the University of Cambridge Research Operations Office, where I was the Bioscience Impact Facilitator. This was followed by 1.5 years in the REF Impact team, in the Research Strategy Office, alongside my postdoctoral research in McDonald Institute. Since June 2022, I have been the Research and Communications Manager of the Conservation Research Institute.
