Biography
I graduated in 2014 with a B.A. in Biological Sciences from Oxford University. I then spent 10 months working for the Forestry Commission, where my main role was to design and deliver a range of biodiversity decision-support tools. I started a PhD supervised by Bill Sutherland in 2015, joining the Conservation Science group.
Research
I am particularly interested in how ecological understanding and evidence can inform detailed, effective and pragmatic conservation solutions. My PhD focuses on the practicality of using the natural capital approach to guide land-use decisions and deliver biodiversity gains. I am working with the Forestry Commission, using Thetford Forest and the Brecks to study ecosystem service trade-offs and optimality at a scale relevant to land management decisions.
My PhD is funded by NERC, as a CASE studentship with the Forestry Commission.
