Conservation Research Institute

I’m originally from Colombia. I got a degree on Biology and a masters in Ecology. Currently, I’m doing my second year as a PhD Student at The University of Sheffield and starting as a Visiting Student at the Department of Plant Sciences in Cambridge.

I’m working with Professor David Edwards in the newly formed Tropical Ecology and Conservation Group.  Our research aims to determine the impacts of land-use change on taxonomic, phylogenetic, and functional diversity and how land-use change drives the loss or gain of biodiversity from local to regional scales. To do so, we use modelling and simulation approaches based on extensive field data and focus on agriculture in Colombia, the major driver of land-use change in one of the most biodiverse countries in the world.
