Tropical rainforests harbour significant proportion of the world's biodiversity but are threatened by changes in climate and land use. I am interested in how those ecosystems function, how they respond to anthropogenic pressures and how we can manage them so that globally significant ecosystem functions such as carbon storage are preserved. My PhD is focused on the forests of northeastern Borneo where I use a combination of field measurements, airborne remote sensing and molecular methods to tackle those questions.
